Native to South America, Red Root Floaters are eye-catching, free-floating aquatic plants that add vibrant color and texture to ponds, aquariums, or water gardens.

This free floating aquatic perennial is known for their distinctive red roots and round, green to reddish leaves, these floating plants form a beautiful mat on the water’s surface. Their leaves can turn a deep red under high light, creating a striking contrast that enhances the visual appeal of any aquatic setup.

They help reduce algae by shading the water and absorbing excess nutrients; ammonia and nitrogenous waste. A natural solution for maintaining clear, healthy water.

These floaters also create a perfect habitat for fish fry, shrimp, and other aquatic creatures, offering shade and cover from predators.

Low-maintenance and fast-growing, Red Root Floaters thrive in warm water conditions, making them an ideal fit for Florida ponds or aquariums. While they do best in nutrient-rich water with moderate to high light, they can adapt to a variety of environments. Their ability to naturally filter and oxygenate the water makes them both a functional and decorative choice.

NOTE: Red Root Floaters are not listed as invasive… yet. DO NOT release into the wild. Red Root Floaters can produce a closed canopy over water. This alters natural habitats by outcompeting native plants and reducing biodiversity.
